Good day all,
My Truck is a South African spec 1617 with slow axle ratio's of 48:7
I am in the process of converting it to an expedition truck and would like more speed in the green rev zone.
I am finding it very hard to get information about alternative Ring and Pin gears with higher ratios.
Can anyone please assist with some info please?
I have attached some ratio's that might be available but not sure if there are more options for the AL4 axle type.

Are you sure about the AL4 front axle?
I think, it should either bei an AL3 or an AL7.

There has been an AL4 axle for a couple of years, but IMHO never in the NG series trucks.

Hi,
I'm currently travelling in southern Africa and two Mercedes LK 1617 are parked next door. LK! NOT NG...
Being infected with 4x4 truck virus, I couldn't resist on exploring these trucks. Both trucks roll on 10-Stud axles, unusual for the light weight range.
Coming back to the question of the original starter of this thread, could someone please look up the vin

and give details regarding the front axle? Gear ratio is 48:7 and it is equipped with diff locker and was built in Brazil.
VE ON, 733.011-2, 737607 is printed on the label.
Would it be possible to change gear ratio in order to reduce drive train speed? Many thx,

Die angetriebene AL4-Vorderachse gibt es schon seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr. Soweit ich weiß, nicht einmal mehr in Brasilien.
Dementsprechend gibt es auch so gut wie keine Ersatzteile mehr dafür.

Die Achse mit dem Baumuster 733.011 ist eine AL4/6DS-6/48:7.
Also eine angetriebene Vorderachse der Baureihe 4 (AL4), Version 6, für Druckluftbremse und mit Differentialsperre (DS), max. Achslast 6t.
Die serienmäßige Übersetzung für diese Achse ist 48:7, kann bzw. konnte aber über die Wahl von Sonderausstattungen geändert werden.
Zur Verfügung standen in der SA B20315 folgende Übersetzungen: 43:7 und 39:8.
