our truck fully loaded is 7800kg but when this picture was taken it is about 7400kg.
both leaf springs at the back are touching the rubber mounts all the time,has been since we got the truck before converting the back, the main springs are close to horizontal.
can not see any ...

Hello, can anyone tell me if this is correct the position for the helper spring or should there be a gap between the springs and the rubber mount on my 911.

Thanks for the reply just had a new oil pump put in and are only getting 1 bar when idiling is this ok,
old oil pump had the oil coming out of the worm gear at the top.

Hi what is the oil pressure reading for a idiling warm engine and when driving in top gear in our 911.
pressure gauge goes upto 5 bar

Cheers for those thoughts but our OM352 engine is terrific for coping with dodgy fuel unlike some of the more modern engines.....
Waxing is the common problem in the altiplano but we have used special additive or petrol to help prevent this.
Going to start her up soon after 5 days of being parked ...

Hi checked the batteries a few weeks ago and topped them up and they seem to be charging o.k
have been sitting for four days now so tomorrow will start her up and see.

we have not checked the overnight temperature around -5 degrees or so but we have been high - around 4,000 or so metres so this won't have helped. Our truck didn't complain so much in these conditions before.
but we did promise her tropical beaches this year to warm ...

we have found out that our axle seal was badly fitted and we can not source this seal in chile.
we have used felt material covered in grease as a tempory seal untill we find another seal.
will this cause damage to our ball joint, we need to drive into argentina and start searching mercedes ...

thanks for that we have decided to get the online parts EPC so should have all the numbers for now, if we can work out how to use it

we are looking for the part number of the font axle swivel housing seal. picture enclosed, and we would like to know the part number for the left hand head light lens.
we need to order these from germany and DHL them here to chile.

the axle seal looks like it has been ill fitted and crimped ...

We had to change the piston rings due to wear but our head gasket was okay. The engine is 90% in and should be completed tomorrow.
Maybe we see you in San Francisco sometime?!

All we can find out is that the UTTO oil can become thin with age, but we will be servicing and doing oil changes regularly, so it shouldn't be a problem for us.
Let us be the 'test' vehicle for this oil and we will let all allrad readers ...

Our mechanic has told us that all the MB trucks over here use gearoil- John Deere HY-GARD transmission and hydrolic oil- because this is better for the high temperatures here. Could this be the gear oil that is hard to find in Europe? (Our gearbox is the G32 type ...

we have the lever transfer box so this will help a great deal.

the gearbox should have ATF or gear oil in it. the mechanic says gear oil so we are not so sure have tried to upload a picture of the new groove for the crankshaft seal

when we take the oil filler cap off there is a blow back coming out, we presume this is compression from worn piston rings.
we have taken the engine out and the clutch plate is very worn, and the crankshaft bearings are also worn, we think this was from lack of oil ...
