Intercooler kit on BF6L913

Moin moin.
Hi all. Sorry for writing in English but my German is to bad to use.

My name is Arnór and I live in Reykjavik Iceland. And my fam. and I are proud owners of a Magirus Deutz 168M11fal. Ex Danish military. Year 1982. Engine BF6L913. This is equipped with a Hobby camper on the flatbed, serving as our summerhouse and Iceland safari vehicle.

I have a question to ask, regarding the engine power. Has anyone modified this engine with an inter cooler (as BF6L913C (C = Charge air cooler)), or boosted the power up (rated 124kw as is) by other means?
And does anyone have data on how much this would increase power and where to get a inter-cooler kit.

After browsing Deutz webp. I could only find BF6L913 as a Marine engine http://www.deutz.com/live_deutz_product ... 913sen.pdf or agricultural engine, but not a truck engine. And they are differently rated.

These tables are the closest that I have seen so far. Since it seems that Deutz has taken automobile tables off its web.

I've checked that. You can still download the complete datasheets for 912/913 on deutz.de, no problem.

Hi Arnór,

simplest way of increasing engine power ist increasing the amount of diesel injected. This will bring around 200 HP without too much black smoke from the exhaust.

The mercedes drivers here often bring their pumps to Rüdiger 'The Pump' Schramm, maybe he has some experience with Deutz engines, too.

Fitting an intercooler you can get power over a longer time without overheating the motor, but I think with only a camper on the flat bed, this shouldn't be a problem anyway.

Fitting an intercooler I spontaneously woundn't know where to mount it. If you place it in front of the motor, you will cut the amount of cooling air for the motor (ok, it has a fan, but a harder working fan costs power), below the bumper will reduce slope angle.

Anyway, first I would increase power by optimizing the injection pump, If this will not be enough, I would think of fitting an intercooler.

from the BF6L913C price 537US$ so I'm waiting for parts catalog and Deutz BL/ FL 911 FL 912/W, 913 Motor Werkstatthandbuch that I found on:

So I can see what else I need for installation. and if it will fisically fit on top of the engine with out taking too much space. I know I will have to increase output from the injector pump, and probably change the injectors. And likely also the turbine. And finally the cylinders seem to be about 2mm shorter for the Inter cooler version. Making compression ratio 17 instead of 18.

So on the long run, you are probably right. its just too much trouble. So I will just crank up the volume of the kraftstoff.
