Uniquick vs John Guest
Hi,
It's time for us to think about the water system for our truck. It seems that there are at least two common piping systems in use, Uniquick and John Guest. JG is more prominent in the web, but which would you guys recommend and why?
When it comes to pumps, is Shurflo the way to go, or are there better value pumps available too?
My initial idea for a setup is:
FILTER -> TANK -> PUMP -> EXPANSION TANK -> HEATER -> TAPS (kitchen + toilet/shower). Is it good to have a single filter before the tank, or would it be better after it? I guess there should also be pressure gauges and drain valves here and there, but not really sure where and why .
I have the selbstausbau dvd, but I'm writing in hope that someone would like to chat in english. If you know a good thread in german, please recommend it. I can translate it once I find one, but it seems to be difficult to find them using search.

Re: Uniquick vs John Guest
It depends what material you want to use.
I used aluminium compound pipes. There are different manufacturers available at local DIY stores.
I'd recommend a different setup
Tank -> Pump ( -> optional UV treatment) -> Filter -> Taps
I use an Italian pump for 24V with pressure vessel all stainless steel. (Hauswasserwerk)

Do you use coated aluminium pipes?
I used a small piece of uncoated Aluminium pipe in my Landrover and i got aluminium corrosion with the result of "white flakes" at the tap.
I then changed to copper pipe

Stefan

Hi,
our water installation is fitted with the uniquick System!
It is very easy and i would absolutely recommend it!
If its necessary to open or change any Connection, this is possible without Tools.

Hi,
We have the Uniqick system. In the drinking water system, any brass or bronze is taboo. Especially when silver ions are to be used in drinking water hygiene, electrochemical corrosion can occur and cause problems.

Ich kann Viega Sanfix Wasserleitungen mit Pressverbinder aus Rotguss und Hülsen aus Edelstahl empfehlen.

Somebody thought that filtering all the water during tank filling would make sure that you only had clean water with you.. But is it so that water laying around in tanks gather some inpurities over days, and thus would be good to filter just before use?
Do you guys have an extra pump for sucking water from natural sources like lakes and streams? Or are you dependent on finding a pressurised water source?
Uniquick seems to have an upper hand right now..
