Z-profile aluminium for Seitz window frames

Hi everybody

Is it ok to use 30x40x30x3 aluminium profile to build the frames for Seitz windows to be inserted to Zeppelin container? Some of you have used 30x30x30x3, but I thought using 40mm height would make the frames fit without extra strips between them (60mm-34mm=26mm, where 34=40-3-3).

I really can't find such profile from finland. After hours of googling and half a dozen phone calls, they all just say that it's such a special product that there ain't poin to store it.. So I would like to ask if you could recommend a good online store from Germany?

Unfortunately they only seem to sell other profiles, but no Z. I found some companies already, so now it's time to ask which of them would ship here..

Hi Riku,

we also have Seitz S4 Windows and we also have a Zeppelin Shelter and used 1.4301 profiles (normal INOX). I used 20x33x42 mm. I just made them in our own metalworkshop. If you have a well experienced worker to help you it is very little work for you.

Attached you can see the drawing I gave them to do the job.

Thanks for the input! What are the benefits of using such a long edge behind the window frame? I assume you have the window attached to the 42mm edge. Doesn't it just make the frame bigger? Did you use wooden strips between the window halves?

Cutting seperate.

1,50€ 2x2000mm and rest ca. 1980 mm
or
2,50€ 5x1000mm and rest ca. 950mm

I found those exact same prices from metalstore.de. That's probably where i'll order them, unless i get a better one from somewhere else. I think i saw 25€/2m somewhere..

yes indeed, i attached the window to the 42 mm edge. it does make the frame bigger, but we saw in our first few travelexperieces, that we have a lot of probelms with low trees. So we have to add some metal plates in front of the windows. And therfor I need some space to fix them.

Thank you all for your answers. I ordered 40x40x40x3 profile from estahl.com . they had reasonable prices and shipping was also cheap, great service.

Now they are ready as frames. That thing costed a lot more that I would have wanted, though..
