Hi Rico, how is lithium (lifepo4) working!? Fantastic job (applause)XD
What do you think of lithium batteries (LTO)?
I have read that they can be charged with the power of the alternator (with a stable 28v regulator).
What is your opinion on starting with supercapacitors, for now I will keep both starter lead batteries, but I would like to get information about this matter!
Greetings Toni
Hi
LTO are relatively new chemistry for batteries.
I would rather go for something proven longterm, after I saw the burned van from kombi life. That was LiIon 18650, I know. That van caught fire placed in a garage, after working battery pack flawlessly for 1 year or so.
I really like new stuff but I don't see a huge benefit in lto and would stick with LiFePo4.
There are different brands to Winston, with a tighter energy density, if weight matters in a truck
Same for Super Capacitors. In a daily driven car where you want to save 20 kg fine but on a truck, I don't know.
In cold climates when you have hard time staring, this can be a backup or the other way around (the lead acid ones).
Imho you can't get rid of starter batteries, today.
