170d11 Windows are not waterproof.!

#1 Beitrag von Peterdenmark » 2015-06-12 19:19:49

Hi!

The side windows (the ones that roll DOWN) are taking water in along the bottom seal.

Where can I get a seal that will fit? Lkw-restauration say that they do not have that item.

Best regards Peter

not sure if I understood your question, but with my MB LA911 my front door roll-down windows regularely take water. It usually runs through the door and out at the bottom. There are holes in the bottom - you just need to ensure that these are open and not covered with dirt. I seem to recall a discussion here where this was the topic and Pirx stated that doors with with crank-operated windows are to be seen as wetzone areas http://www.allrad-lkw-gemeinschaft.de/p ... 33&t=58474

Do an anti-corrosion job of the inner door, ensure that the water can flow out at the bottom so to avoid any fish & frog habitat and you should be good....thats how I do it.

Of course new seals seal better, but you will never get it "waterproof"

Jochen

Hi Jochen

You are probably right. But the two rear windows are actually so "loose" that they make alot of noise a s well. So yes, a rustproofing is a good idea but i still need some replacement seals.

Thank you for your reply!

Best regards Peter

perhaps try Doepper-profile

if you cannot find anything, make a sectional print of yours and mal them. they are usually quite knowledgable.
