NG 1419 - Umbau auf Allradantrieb

#1 Beitrag von Joaquin Suave » 2007-04-17 17:47:45

Please excuse me if this is in the wrong place, I am not able to google translate after logging in to the sight and god knows I have a hard enough time with english, much less German.

I have just bought a 1982 NG 1419 and want to turn it into a 4x4. I've learned that there is no parts for Mercedes trucks in North America! :wack: And surpisingly very little information about the truck on the internet, so could you guys answer a few questions for me???

First...

Who manufactures the front drive axles that are on the "A" (allrad) trucks?

How about the transfer cases?

I need a few replacement parts (like the left front fender) is there a junkyard in Germany that would be willing to ship me a pallet of "goodies"?

I'd like to buy a "bush bar", air snorkle, and cab rack. Anybody have a source for those???

Thanks in advance for your help guys! If there is anything you guys would like from the US, I'll try my best to help you get it!

Hi Joaquin,

manufacturer of the transfer case and front axle is Mercedes itself.

Even if you find a Mercedes-Axle, its ratio will differ most probabliy from the rather long ratio of your 4x2 rear axle. I suppose the easiest way is to change both axles to something more common in the states ;)

The Mercedes specialists here may correct me if I'm too wrong :D

Olá Joaquin,
I would suggest you to buy a complete 4x4 drive train wihout engine from an European junkyard and bolt it underneath your truck.
The 1419, 1619, 1622, 1624 Mercedes with four wheel drive are still around here and there should be a good chance for you to find what you need.
Another possibility would be to buy just the gearbox and the transfer case from a 4x4 MK Mercedes here and help yourself with with axles of your own choice availlable in the States.
