Transfer case VG500 oil dripping

Hello,

My VG500 transfer case is dripping oil from the front transmission seals.
I want to replace them but first i must take both flange out, and the cover.
Anyone knows how to take out the nuts (24) from the flanges? And to put them back how much is the force applied.

What is the best way to block the flange? I tried with a metal pin trough the screw hole and broke the pin.

Mein VG500-Verteilergetriebe tropft Öl von den vorderen Getriebedichtungen.
Ich möchte sie ersetzen, aber zuerst muss ich sowohl den Flansch als auch die Abdeckung herausnehmen.
Weiß jemand, wie man die Muttern (24) aus den Flanschen herausnimmt? Und um sie zurückzusetzen, wie viel Kraft wird angewendet.
Was ist der beste Weg, um den Flansch zu blockieren? Ich versuchte es mit einem Metallstift durch das Schraubenloch und brach den Stift.

I put the first gear or the reverse to block the flange but i feel this is not the correct way. When i apply force to the nut, there is a elastic movement (does not block immediately) and the force goes until the back diff. I abandoned this idea.

Also when i will take out the transmission from the gearbox cannot block it this way.

Do i need to activate the transfer case lock on the cabin?

probably the best way to block the flange(s) is to use a special tool.

You can build this one yourself using a steel plate, a cutting tosch and a drill. Alternatively, if you have an old flange you don't need anymore, this flange (should be open in the middle to be able to reach the central screw), a steel pin, pipe or whatever and a welder.

Actually i don't have a picture of such a special tool, but i hope i can deschribe it:
It looks a bit like a giant spoon with holes drilled in (according to the screw pattern in the flange)

It ist attached to the flange using some screws (four should be enough, 8 are perfect ) and the long lever is used to hold it.

Thanks DePo for the nice idea...i made a steel plate with 2 holes and worked perfectly.






Used the round tube to fit the seals 65/85/15,5 inside and now is good again!
