Well, the title says it all really...
I might have the option to get a 1966 1113, but it is only 4X2.
But the plan has always been to get a 4X4 as a minimum.
Is a conversion feasable?
Are the parts available?
What would it cost (in parts, not labour)?
I hope you can help!
Kurzhauber, can it be converted from 4x2 to 4x4?

Hi,
i don't have special knowledge about the Kurzhauber, but some things are equal to every 4x4-vehicle.
You need at least a front-axle with the right transmission, the 3 drive shafts, the transfer case and many little parts.
Everything is possible, but buying the correct vehicle is much more reasonable.

I know whats needed, and that it might be the longest route to take...
The reason is that it is impossible to find a decent 4X4 here, but I found a cheap 4X2...
It might not be the baddest idea to take a A series 1113 and put the drivetrain from something like a 1217 under it... And it might be cheaper?

Hey,
the A-Series has narrow Axles while all later models have a wider Trac so you would have to swap both axles. It might not be the worst idea to swap the brakesystem complete as well.
The transfercase of the 1017 would fit but i don't know how about the brackets in you're 4x2 frame (in how far the frame differs i don't know).
Ofcourse you wold need to raise the suspension and you might get a problem keeping the swaybars (if you wanna run them).
Maybe you need another oilpan to gain space for the frontaxle.
I#m sure there is more to concider but i don't know the 4x2's

Re: Kurzhauber, can it be converted from 4x2 to 4x4?
Thanks for your input guys, the question just popped up again.
I have been offered a 1113B already registerd here in Denmark, which is a big plus.
It's a 1970 4X2 with a 4.2 wheelbase and short doka.
As far as I can think, the needed parts would be:
Axles
Transfer
crossmember
Springs
Drive shafts
Oil pan (?)
shifter mechanism
I have seen axles for sale in Holland, but would later models fit maybe?
