I've sent a mail to Magirus Deutz and asked them, would be nice if it was allowed.

Now you've dug out the largest "verbal cannon" you could find, haven't you. It's not the first time we've had this discussion and I don't see why it should be necessary to bring this argument at this point. When I look at older postings, you seem to have made use of the PM function to share information, too. Besides, there are legal ways to obtain vehicle documentation.

We don't have control over what people write as PM, and that's just as well. The postman shouldn't read your mail either, and neither is he responsible for the contents of your mail.

We strongly believe in adult behaviour and trust our users to use the PM and mail function in non-harmful ways. But on the other hand we're not responsible for people's private correspondence. We are, however, responsible for what is openly shared and if we think something isn't a good idea, we will say so.

Yes, I have certainly made use of the PM function to send these manuals to anyone who asked.

Internet forums and PMs are not regarded as post - the communications are the responsibility of the site owner in the end. Having no control does not help. This is the same argument used by the pirate bay etc.

I am certainly not upset, angry or anything of that kind I am simply not sure if anyone would mind if enthusiats share severely outdated instruction manuals to a vehicle that is not manufactured any longer. I really hope Magirus replies

Well, if you have such a bad feeling about the forum and how we treat PMs and if you think the comparison with "pirate bay" or similar platforms is in order, then you might want to consider looking for another communication platform where admins read (and moderate) private conversations between members.

People have pointed out to you that openly sharing documents might not be a good idea. You've responded by questioning a thread that's been running for years and that you've been part of not for the first time today.

I'm not willing to discuss our general approach here in this thread. I know quite well that I'm taking a considerable risk in running a forum at all. I don't need users to rub that in. Unless someone wants the forum to be closed rather sooner than later because my patience and humour has run out.

I actually did not imagine that they would be so fast - or forthcoming! I first contacted Iveco Magirus and they sent me on to Iveco proper, who granted the request.
