Broken Speedo

Hello Guys

Firstly let me apologise for not writing in German ..... I could try, but it wouldn't be pretty :)

I have a Iveco Magirus 110-16 ( I believe that's the 168M11FAL) , The speedo has stopped working. There is a small plastic part that connects the speedo cable to the back of the speedo through an adapter that has sheered off. I tried to fabricate another one but it seems that the speedo may be broken as this part broke again. Does anyone know where I can source a used speedometer complete with the adaptor and connector?

Kind Regards
Richard Taylor

Hi Richard,

I can honestly recommend http://www.bbg-automotive.de/ in Frankfurt, Germany.

They do very good repair, especially on older speedos and similar parts. I am not sure how good their English is, but chances are good that they will understand you. If not I would be willing to support.

Best regards

Marcus

Hello Marcus

Thanks for the response I will take a look at their site. Do you know of any second hand Magirus parts supplies? When I bought the vehicle I was told that there was a guy that bought a load of the 110-16's and was stripping them for parts. I have lost the details :( .

Rgds Richard

There's not "one" place where you'll get everything for your truck. Depending on what you need, there are different places to check. Standard truck parts dealer, Iveco, Deutz, specialised dealers for brakes, dealers for ex-army vehicles...
If you let us know what's missing, we can try and point you in the right direction.

Hi,

Wilmaaa is right, for used Iveco parts I would recommend Westenthanner.

I would like to buy a used speedo, complete with plastic adapter at the back.

Did you already try Westenthanner?

I did look and searched using "Tacho". Is Tacho the correct German word for Speedometer?

Hi,

'Tacho' or 'Tachometer' is the right wording, I would try a phone call. They do not have every single part listed online.

i don't want to be the smart ass, but if the "speedo" also records driving times, wouldn't it then be called "Tachograph"? ...You might try that for a search.
cheers
Jochen

Yes,

that sounds absolutely reasonable. It might be 'Tachograph', 'Fahrtenschreiber' or 'Tachometer mit integriertem Fahrtenschreiber'.

:unwuerdig: ;)
