Zeppelin/Dornier TYPE 1 and 2.
I understand that there are two sizes of the makes of cabin. Is there a posting on here with all the tech drawings? I had looked but could not find.
Am I correct the Dornier versions have blow heating through the small holes in the walls and this is a diesel powered system and the Zeppelin also has diesel heating but through tubes/boxes?
Both have foam insulation but will need some more to avoid cold areas unless open windows and woodstove.

please give me your email adresse via PN, I´ll send you a technical data sheet from Led Zeppelin - unfortunately in german - but the measurement you´ll understand - but its metric system!!! Not in gallons, horse-length and stone cast ;-)))

Measurements on a horse's height are in "hands"
Has anyone made an extendable roof section on these cabins? The reason I asked is the Type 1 seems to be a low internal height (1660mm) but more suitable for hard travel on a vehicle loadbed.

From what I understand (and I'm so far only studying the boards) the Zeppelin offers much better insulation compared to the Dornier. But once you start thinking about roof alterations and extra insulation you might as well go for a custom solution and get made exactly what you want...

Custom cabins in the UK with no internals are around £10,000/Euro 10,000. (Used fridge boxes around £1,000/Euro 1,000 in good condition with double back door and a fridge system)
I thought if we needed more headroom to turn the Zeppelin/Dornier cabin sideways (as 2.200mm) then change the original back door to open upwards to protect from rain and a new bottom section could make a standing area before the access ladder.
(Off Topic) Hands are 4"/10cm each and measure from the ground to the shoulders/withers. We have one at 180+.

if you worry about the isolation... then your choise should be the flying cigar! dornier has many coldbridges between the aluminum layers (outside to inside)
i say, take the bigger one. like LUIGI. well, if the loadbed isn´t long enough it might be a problem, i agree. cutting, extending and shortening the shelter is possible but it depends on how much work you want to put into the project.

to turn the shelter sideways is a creative idea
- can only come from a guy where they drive on the wrong side of the road.
But you only rise the hight from 192 cm to 205 - not 220!!! In addition you´ll need a floor-layer of at least 10 mm wooden plate.
And don´t forget the backdoor is f....ing heavy if you have to lift it up and that you have to remove the floor which will become wall as well as the Aluminium-slides on the ground once you want to have windows or a door on the former floor.
Last but not least I don´t know whether 90 degrees turned container-locks will still work. So in total it would be more easy to remove the floor and keep the position.
Send pictures once you have turned it - I would not have come to this idea!!!

Interesting driving in England with a LHD vehicle but much fun when the large German Shepherd is in the passenger seat and people are confused who is driving.
I looked at this odd idea as I thought the floor of these containers was the same as the sides and roof areas. Current MB914 AK-31 Vehicle has the 10' ISO chassis frame with space behind the driving zone but the Dutch NATO had it's width reduced to non standard size. (Reasons unknown)
I found some Zeppelin/Dornier measurements on the www and thought it would then fit the vehicle and still allow folding sides on the vehicle which are used for work. (firewood/bales/tree lengths)


Alternative was a small cabin version (correct length and width) and cut out a section of the current low roof and extend with a pop-up caravan section. (too much messing around I think and then a cold issue when working in areas with -18C)
