Hello David,

the part from your picture should be the electro-magnetic valve that operates the differential lock in the rear axle. It is powered by electric current (12 or 24 Volt, depending on your truck) and switches the compressed air which moves the operating cylinder inside the axle housing.

Let me tell you, that it would have been very, very helpful to find out the correct part to know the vehicle identification number, the year of construction and some more details of your truck. For example the voltage or what exactly is wrong with the valve.

So I had to guess from your avatar picture and I think your truck is ex german police and should have a 24 Volt electric system. Then the right part should be A 002 997 59 36 magnetic valve 24V and cost about 135,- EUR + tax.

There are some repair sets for half of that price, but if you don't know which make the valve is (Westinghouse, Wabco, Herion, and some more) and what exactly is wrong with it, it will be better to change it completely and maybe repair the old part afterwards and take it as a spare.
