Hi David,

at the pics it looks like a push over coupling only. I thing Your problem solving is too fix 2 clamps at the ends of the coupling pipe.

Hello David,

your photos show the original joining pipe between the exhaust pipe coming from (and moving like) the engine and the rest of the exhaust system (fixed to the vehicle frame).

This joining pipe is designed to allow some moving and flexibility between the two parts of the exhaust system. Therefore, there is a well defined gap between this short pipe and the rest. And of course, there is often a small leak for the exhaust gas. Most police officers and the people of the technical vehicle survey don't like it - but it is original and works like designed.

If you or some other person has a problem with that, you can replace the short piece of pipe by a piece of flexible metal tube (existing in ordinary or stainless steel) and two clamps. You have to search for a tube that fits exactly to the diameters of the exhaust system. I think, last time (some years ago) I bought the tube at http://www.dinex.de, but I can't remember the diameters or numbers. Maybe you will find some similar supplier near your home.

P.S.: the "universal catalogue" download is a good thing for planning exhaust conversions ...
