I'm looking for a clean manual transmission late 90s truck. No EPS please.

Specs:

Big axles
High speed gears
Medium/Large cab
NO bad rust.

4x4 or 6x6.

Needs to be built over 25 years ago for import reasons. I am in the US, but have broker in EU able to purchase for me.

Any advice on what transmissions are good in the 1990-2000 SK and Actros?

I was told to avoid the EPS in the early Actros trucks. It looks like they used 6sp and 8sp gearboxes from Getrag and ZF.

My focus is on the Actros from 1998-2000 with the straight manual 8speed split.

That truck is gone. The seller was not interested in allowing any inspection at all. Searching again this month.

I agree with you both on coming to look. The problem is I already scheduled my vacations for next 4 months and really liked this truck. I offered the seller full price pending an acceptable inspection which seemed reasonable. He wants 50k for it, so it needs to be in top condition at that price.

What's stopping you from driving over to the dealer to inspect the truck yourself ?
Europe is a village and distances are small .
